In Camera...Battle of the Atlantic Departure

It was a grey, rain soaked afternoon when the naval vessels that had been in Liverpool for the 70th Anniversary of the Battle of the Atlantic sailed out of the Mersey. Grey ships emerging out of a grey, misty Mersey in to slightly brighter skies over the Irish Sea. On Crosby beach a small crowd had joined the iron men to watch this moving sight as the fleet sailed out.
A historic sight, you wonder what it must have been like all those years ago, in wartime, watching the ships sail out, not knowing if they would return.
The scene desperately needed some colour on this grey afternoon and, as luck would have it, this couple with a bright umbrella came and stood at the water's edge, a vivid splash of magenta in this otherwise monochromatic scene.

  1. Well, I have the hobby of photography and I had recently purchased a dslr camera for shooting.
