Last Saturday evening I thought the sky looked quite interesting and thought there might be a picture opportunity down at Crosby beach. The sun was close to setting and had actually disappeared behind a bulk of thick cloud over the Welsh hills but, as I watched, the afterglow from the sun started to reflect of the base of the clouds over Liverpool Bay.
These amazing pictures were captured in the fifteen minutes after sunset when the light from the sun still strikes clouds high in the atmosphere, a wonderful display from the elements.
The composition in all these photographs is helped by the reflection of the sky in the pools of water left on the beach as the tide recedes.
I really love these images, and would like to try to get this effect with far less beautiful vistas. Do you have any tips? Did this require using filters or adjusting white balance?
